New Product Announcement: Water-Based Wood Stain

THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2023

Earlier this month, paint and coatings company Dunn-Edwards introduced a new water-based wood stain for exterior surfaces such as decks, fencing and siding. Solid-Color, which is available in 50 hues, was reportedly designed with long-lasting UV and water protection in mind.

“In just two coats, our new stain product can breathe life into wood surfaces, both old and new, thanks to a performance-driven formulation,” said Tim Bosveld, Vice President of Product Management at Dunn-Edwards.

“We’re very excited to add Solid-Color to our best-in-class lineup of paint products to help consumers rejuvenate their exteriors and continue serving as a trusted paint partner to professionals.”

According to the release, the stain can help protect new wood, as well as revitalize wood that has grayed from time and exposure to the elements. It also offers resistance to dirt pickup, grain crack, mold and mildew.

“Selecting a color for an exterior wood stain should be approached with the same care and consideration as any other home color decision,” said Sara McLean, Color Expert + Stylist at Dunn-Edwards.

Dunn-Edwards notes that Solid-Color dries to its final color and matte sheen in one to two hours after application. An additional coat is recommended to achieve sheen uniformity and should be applied four to six hours after the first application.
