Contract Awarded for CA Bridge Rehab Project


The California Department of Transportation has awarded a contract in the amount of $2,826,987.36 for concrete sealing and rehabilitation to several existing bridge structures between Archibald Avenue and Riverside Avenue in San Bernardino County.

Project Award

The contract was awarded to Velarde Concrete Construction, Inc. of San Fernando, California.

Velarde Concrete Construction was the lowest of five apparent bidders. Additional bids included:

  • Peterson-Chase General Engineering of Irvine, California, in the amount of $3,483,413.40;
  • Myers & Sons Construction, LLC of Sacramento, California, in the amount of $3,631,330.50;
  • American Civil Constructors of Benicia, California, in the amount of $3,725,000; and
  • The Truesdell Corporation of Tempe, Arizona, in the amount of $3,969,969.

The project involves cleaning and coating 326,315 square feet of concrete bridge deck surface, as well as structural repair, paving and related site work.

Concrete surfaces will receive a coating system of polyester concrete overlay and surface treatment material.

Owner-approved manufacturers for this project include Prosoco, Sherwin-Williams, Evonik, Dow, Advanced Chemical, Sika and Euclid.
