New Product Announcement: Industrial Coating Colorants
United Kingdom-based independent paint manufacturer HMG Paints Ltd. recently launched its own range of colorants for industrial coatings. KROSS Tints are a short oil alkyd solution, available in 17 colorants, for use in applications such as synthetic alkyds, DTMs, primer finishes and QAD products.
“When developing the KROSS Tint system, we were focused on using the very best pigments to ensure our customers can produce the perfect colour every time” commented Isla Taylor, HMG Paints R&D Chemist who led the development of the new range.
“The pigments selected also have high weatherfastness and lightfastness ratings to ensure the colors are resistant to environmental effects.”
According to the emailed release, the tint range is available immediately with over 37,000 color formulations. They are also available through HMG’s ColourBase tinting software, which is compatible with both manual and automated tinting schemes.
Additionally, HMG reports that KROSS Tints are supported by its ColourBase Colour Box, which contains 2,400 color chips displayed in chromatic order within 20 fan decks. The box also contains colors with chromatic continuity to ensure that distributors can find the perfect colour for every customer.
HMG says that the pandemic, mergers and acquisitions, as well as ongoing supply chain issues in the colorants industry, has led to a “significant increase” in supplying colorants to other United Kingdom paint brands. As a result, KROSS tint isn’t limited to HMG’s distributor network and is available for other paints and coatings manufacturers to use in their own products.
The colorants are manufactured at the company’s headquarters in Manchester, U.K., allowing HMG to supply products quickly to customers across a number of industries. All of HMG’s products are also Made in Britain-accredited and available in a wide range of pack sizes.
