New Product Announcement: Waterjet Nozzles

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2023

Material cutting and wear protection manufacturer Ceratizit recently released a new waterjet nozzle portfolio for efficient waterjet cutting processes.

“We developed our HyproJET range with three standard water jet nozzles to meet these needs: narrow hole tolerances, perfect cutting and radial run-out accuracy ensure precise working results,” said Mesut Goksu, Segment Account Manager at Ceratizit.

According to the emailed release, the HyproJET X6 improves flow of abrasive material and air in the nozzle with a special design for cutting even the most difficult materials.

The range also includes the HyproJET P6 for more standard applications with its optimal price-performance ratio. The S3 standard water jet nozzle is reportedly affordable but offers high-quality results.

Ceratizit reports that all nozzles are suitable for modern cutting head systems and support automatic centering during assembly.

For some materials, a waterjet system needs to be mixed with an abrasive, such as garnet or corundum. Other materials, such as steel, stone, glass or composites, can also be used as abrasives, but can have some disadvantages.

“They put a lot of strain on the focusing tubes due to erosion. Therefore, when redesigning the HyproJET products, we further improved the wear protection,” explained Mathieu Schellenberger, project manager in product development.

Special carbide grades were reportedly used for the product, resulting in the nozzles lasting for a long period of time, even at pressures of up to 6,000 bar.

Prior to hitting the market, the products reportedly underwent testing with waterjet cutting experts. Goksu reported that the results “exceeded” expectations. The latest portfolio adds to the company’s various other equipment offerings, including mixing chambers, pistons, spray discs and more.
