WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2023

Indian multinational paint company Berger Paints Ltd. has recently announced that it will be joining the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) to coat parts of New Town, Rajarhat, for the upcoming Group of Twenty (G20) Summit.

G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues. India holds the Presidency of the G20 from Dec. 1, 2022, to Nov. 20, with several meetings slated to take place this month and next.

According to the United News of India, Berger Paints was approached by HIDCO to help execute the painting of several wall murals throughout the city for the G20 Summit. The company was noted to have promptly agreed to the project as both an active contributor and participant.

Berger Paints reportedly holds an age-old connection with the city and stands witness to the city’s evergreen charisma. By participating in this latest project, the company enters its 100th year of operations, having started its journey back in 1923.

In preparing the “City of Joy” project, officials selected three well-known artists to apply murals on several government-owned properties.

“The talented young artists brought Kolkata's vibrant style and culture to its walls. They painted their view of the city and covered it in majestic artwork,” wrote Berger Paints on LinkedIn.

Additional mural pieces are expected to be shared by the artists this month.
