USGBC Unveils Keynotes for Greenbuild 2022


The U.S. Green Building Council and Informa Connect, a division of Informa plc, recently announced its full keynote lineup for the 2022 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.

The event, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary as the world’s leading sustainable building conference, is set to take place Nov. 1-3 in San Francisco at the LEED Platinum Moscone Center.

Greenbuild Keynotes

According to USGBC, speakers range from leading officials at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation to Jane Fonda and leaders in climate and ESG. In celebrating two decades, Greenbuild is expanding on “what it means to build green” and has included a broader range of programming, experiences and speakers.

In-person keynote speakers include:

  • Two-time academy award-winning actor and life-long sustainability advocate, Jane Fonda, who will speak on Wednesday, Nov. 2;
  • Dr. Jean Rogers, Senior Managing Director and Global Head of ESG at Blackstone with opening remarks from USGBC’s President and CEO, Peter Templeton, who will speak on Tuesday, Nov. 1;
  • An exclusive Federal Agency Dialogue featuring the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation, who will speak on Thursday, Nov. 3; and
  • Deanna Van Buren, Co-Founder and Executive Director at Designing Justice + Designing Spaces, is scheduled to speak on Thursday, Nov. 3.

“We are so excited to be gathering back in person in San Francisco this year,” said Sherida Sessa, Greenbuild Brand Director. “These keynote speakers are covering everything from advocacy and climate to ESG and sustainable business, allowing Greenbuild attendees to maximize their time at the event with actionable, timely discussions that they can bring back to their work and personal lives.”

The Greenbuild keynote program is supported by a host of curated networking opportunities and special events, more than 200 exhibitors and brands on the Expo—which, for the first time, will be collocated with Industrialized Wood Based Construction Conference (IWBC)—over 150 educational sessions and immersive learning opportunities.

Education session highlights include:

  • Policy: The New Policies and Programs Shaping the Future of Green Buildings;
  • Equity: A Radical Shift Toward Inclusion in the Built Environment; and
  • ESG: The Great Convergence – Green Building, ESG and Sustainable Finance.
