Bidding Open for OR Bridge Rehabilitation

The Port of Coos Bay is seeking contractors to perform rehabilitation of the existing spans and rail track on the Vaughn Viaduct Bridge in Coos Bay, Oregon.

Bids are due Sept. 6.

Scope of Work

This project includes cleaning, painting and repairs to an existing bridge structure. Work will consist of rehabilitation to the existing towers, rehabilitation to steel spans, construction of new spans and abutments, track realignment and drainage improvements. The structure was recently replaced as part of a Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement program in 2018.

This project includes cleaning and painting of towers (two each). Surfaces will require cleaning in accordance to Hand Tool (SSPC-SP 2) and Power Tool (SSPC-SP 3) cleaning standards, and painted with a three-coat system of high-performance single component moisture-cured organic zinc-rich primer, surface tolerant mastic intermediate and micaceous iron oxide (MIO) enriched matte-finish aliphatic moisture-cured urethane topcoat.

No abrasive blast-cleaning will be permitted.

The existing coatings contain lead. Handling and disposal of lead-based materials is required.

Owner-specified coating manufacturer is Wasser, or an approved equivalent.
