New Product Announcement: Mindful Wallpaper
British paint and wallpaper brand Lick has recently launched a first-of-its-kind mindful wallpaper with an accompanying color palette made up of six different shades.
The new product was created in collaboration with the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) after studies shared stats on the mental health of those living in Great Britain.
According to the study, 35% of British residents are more anxious now than before the pandemic; 60% say their mood is impacted by their environment in the post-pandemic world; and 39% struggle to relax. The study also reported, however, that 69% of residents consider outdoor spaces to have a positive impact on their mood and that over 57% claim that nature-inspired colors have a calming effect on their mood.
With these findings in mind, Lick and CALM developed the paint-it-yourself wallpaper, designed to reduce stress, enhance creativity and improve mood.

“Creative activities like painting are not only deeply satisfying, it can help you unwind and take a step back from all the pressures that life throws at you,” said CALM CEO, Simon Gunning. “By working together we aim to remind people and give them the tools to talk about and look after their mental wellbeing, before they reach a crisis.”
The wallpaper features various notes to nature and the environment, complete with leaves and flowers. In creating the accompanying color palette, Lick was reported to take into consideration the psychological benefits of natural hues.
“Green instantly has a calming effect, being a color that our eyes don’t need to adjust to and therefore instantly creating a zen environment,” said Color Psychologist and Lick’s Director of Interior Design, Tash Bradley.
When talking about the color blue, Bradley went on to suggest that, “It’s the color of the mind and instantly makes you think of the blue sky, which we often connect to happy and sunny days. This design would look beautiful painted with a mix of blue, pink and white, with pink being the color of comfort, making it soothing to look at.”
The Lick x CALM wallpaper is currently available on Lick.co.uk for 75 pounds ($90.54) per roll. Lick reports that 100% of profits will go to CALM for continued mental health support.
