Contractors Wanted for PA Bridge Replacement

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1, 2022

The Township of Lathrop is seeking contractors for the removal and replacement of the Wright Road Bridge located in Hop Bottom, Pennsylvania.

Bids are due June 15.

Scope of Work

The Township of Lathrop is seeking contractors for full replacement of the Wright Road Bridge. The existing structure is a concrete span over Martins Creek with concrete abutment walls. The existing three-ton bridge requires replacement and is currently in the conceptual phase of planning; therefore, the grading and type of bridge structure has not yet been established.

The project includes surface preparation of galvanized steel members via Solvent Cleaning (SSPC-SP 1) or Brush-Off Blast-Cleaning (SSPC-SP 16) for surfaces that have not weathered for more than six months. Galvanized structural steel will require coating with a two-component high-solids fast-drying polyamide epoxy mastic primer and stripe coat, followed by a high-solids polyurethane second and finish coating.

Where hot-dip galvanizing or hot zinc coating is required, galvanizing will conform to ASTM 386, Class B-2, for sheet steel, or Class C for bolts and screws with a minimum coating of not less that 1-1/4 ounces per square foot of surface. All abraded spots and welds will require touch-up with aluminum paint.

Aluminum in contact with concrete, masonry, plaster, wood, ceramic tile and mortar will require coating with a heavy-bodied bituminous paint or coating of primer.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers are Sherwin-Williams, ICI Paints, Tnemec or an approved equivalent.
