New Product Announcement: HVOF Coating System
Global supplier of wear-resistant coatings Extreme Coatings recently announced the launch of its new internal diameter High Velocity Oxygen Fuel coating system for oil and gas and industrial components. The IDX internal diameter HVOF system provides a tungsten carbide nano coating for diameters as small as three inches, lengths up to eight feet and thicknesses up to 0.015 of an inch.
The coating is delivered via a thermal spray system and reportedly offers “exceptional” abrasion resistance, extending the service life of chrome-plated parts by three times. Additionally, the coating system is corrosion resistant and crack-free.
“The IDX system meets the industry’s growing demand for abrasive, corrosive, and aggressive processing in small-inside diameter applications,” said Scott Caplan, Executive Vice President, Extreme Coatings. “This major technology advancement enables us to keep pace with other performance improvements in the downhole drilling industry.”
Extreme Coatings reports that the tungsten carbide, cobalt chrome coating is 99% porosity-free and superior to white iron, chrome-plated or other ID surface engineered option coatings. The coating system can be used in a range of oil and gas applications, including housings, cylinders, bushings, sleeves, mechanical seals and hydraulic cylinders.
The company planned to make the announcement at the 2022 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston at the beginning of the month.
