New Product Announcement: Upcycled Abrasive Media


Global market leader of environmental solutions for industrial and specialty waste streams Harsco Corporation recently announced the launch of its new environmentally friendly abrasive media. Part of Harsco Environmental’s Reed Minerals division, Black Beauty Platinum is the brand’s fourth and most economical product in its line.

According to the emailed release, Black Beauty Platinum can be used in the industrial, marine, oil and gas industries for removing surface coatings such as rust, paint and scale from a variety of substrates, including structural steel and concrete. It also reportedly has a low consumption rate while increasing productivity relative to traditional abrasive media.

The abrasive is comprised of high-quality calcium iron silicate with aggressive angular cutting performance and engineered for job economies, Harsco reports.

“We are constantly addressing the needs of abrasive blasters and the industries they serve with trusted, safer and improved media. BLACK BEAUTY PLATINUM is the environmentally friendly upcycled abrasive line that is vertically integrated within Harsco,” said Jonathan Bernard, Global Marketing Manager of Harsco Environmental Abrasive Division.

“Because it is vertically integrated and controlled from raw materials to the finished product, we can deliver a reliable and consistent media for our customers’ surface preparations needs at an economical price.”

The product is available in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
