Contractors Needed for Reservoir Inspection

The City of Independence in Missouri is currently seeking contractors for inspection and rehabilitation of a 2 million gallon ground storage reservoir.

Bids are due Feb. 10.

Scope of Work

This project involves inspecting (including coatings) a 2 million gallon above grade, carbon steel potable water reservoir. The structure is circular with a carbon steel floor plate, sidewalls and a roof with weld seams erected on a traditionally reinforced poured-in-place concrete ring wall foundation. This tank was constructed in 1957 and renovated in 2018-2019. It is 80 feet in diameter, 54 feet in sidewall height and 69 feet in height.

The entire reservoir interior is coated with a two-coat zinc-rich, moisture-cured urethane and 100%-solids epoxy coating system. The interior sidewall and floor system were installed in 2018. Reservoir interior ceiling coatings were applied in 2019, and interior floor coatings were applied and touched up in 2018.

Reservoir exterior surfaces are coated with a three-coat zinc-rich, moisture-cured urethane, urethane and fluoropolymer system. Reservoir side walls on the exterior were coated in 2018. Exterior roof coating systems were installed in 2019 and the upper section was touched up in 2019.

To perform coating inspection services for this project, a NACE CIP Level I or higher certified individual is required.
