New Product Announcement: Pipeline Tape

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2021

Anticorrosion coatings manufacturer Denso Group Germany recently announced the launch of its new all-in-one corrosion protection tape for pipelines and pipe sections.

SEALID All-in-1 is reportedly the first of its kind tape that does not require primer or a second tape, provides corrosion protection in one step and fulfills ISO 21809-3, EN 12068 and DIN 30672 (C50) standards. Steel surfaces do not need to be preheated and the tape does not require heat shrinking or air removal.

According to Denso, the product took several years of development, with the goal of making corrosion protection even more reliable and efficient, simplifying the protection of pipes and weld seams.

“SEALID is an exceptional product: no primer and just one wrap for corrosion and mechanical protection,” said Max Wedekind, Managing Director Denso Group Germany. “A development to be proud of!”

To apply the multilayer, co-extrusion tape, users can wrap by hand or with Denso’s DENSOMAT wrapping devices in a spiral patter to form a closed, durable protective hose. It is reportedly impermeable to water vapor, oxygen, soil bacteria and soil electrolytes, due to its minimized cathodic disbondment together.

Since the one application requires fewer steps and less materials, the product is low-cost. Denso reports that the tape is also environmentally friendly, with no hazardous substances, no health risks and producing less waste.

Compared to liquid coatings, SEALID can be applied in any weather conditions without prep or application devices. The tape also can be applied to up to 70 C (158 F) and, as opposed to viscoelastic and petrolatum tapes, does not sag or wash out.

“The flexible and easy application makes SEALID All-in-1 the universal solution for corrosion protection of pipelines,” said Thomas Kaiser, Managing Director Denso Group Germany.
