When looking to bring a new design to life at its headquarters in Chicago, USG turned to Hester Painting & Decorating on how the company could best complement the building’s architectural structures.
For the project, Hester Painting incorporated a collection of various of paint colors, wallcoverings and finishes for a full-floor remodel on USG's reception floor. The existing floor was demoed and all new drywall and finishes were installed prior to the company’s work being performed.
“Although the design and style of this interior is distinctive to say the least, and timelines as well as production ideas were equally ambitious, our experienced craftspeople and installers were able to accomplish all requirements and deliver the work on time,” wrote Stephen Hester, the company’s President.
“The result is a stunning visual experience and headquarters that certainly make a lasting impression.”
In preparing the interior for coatings, Hester Painting worked with contractor Executive Construction, Inc. The preparation phase involved a going over color samples, wallcoverings, mapping out schedules and the project scope, in addition to patching, sanding and other methods of surface preparation.
According to Hester, the coating of the areas was completed in coordination with other trades. The painting and wallcovering scope, specifically, took the crew four and a half months to complete. During this time, five different wallcoverings totaling 325 linear feet were installed. Wallcovering manufacturers included Carnegie Fabrics, Endure Walls and MDC Wallcoverings.
