AMPP Calls for Abstracts

FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2021

In an emailed press release, the Association for Materials Protection and Performance recently issued a call for abstracts regarding its new conference.

Slated to take place in 2022, the AMPP Conference and Expo will reportedly bring together SSPC’s Coatings+ and NACE International’s CORROSION Conference and Expo to better serve as the leading global source of knowledge, innovation, networking and collaboration for those in the coatings and corrosion industry.

The Conference and Expo will take place in San Antonio, Texas, March 6-10, 2022, and is expected to feature 500 technical paper presentations across 46 different topics touching every major industry.

Submissions and Key Deadlines

According to AMPP, all levels of coatings and corrosion experts are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration. However, before submitting, interested individuals have been asked to confirm whether their company/institution will allow them to travel (aside from any COVID-19 restrictions) to the conference should their work be chosen to be presented.

Individuals will also be required to have or create a username and password for legacy NACE.

All accepted abstracts for technical symposia require a technical paper to include in the published conference proceedings.

The list of symposia topics related to the coatings industry are as follows:

  • Advanced Protective Coating Technology;
  • Bridge and Infrastructure Coatings & Corrosion;
  • Characterization and Performance of High Temperature Materials/Coatings for Industrial Applications in Refining, Petrochemical and Power Generation Industries;
  • Coating Application;
  • Coating Failures;
  • Coating Inspection;
  • Coatings and Corrosion Control for Storage Tanks;
  • Corrosion Mitigation and Coatings in Extreme Environments;
  • Environmental Assisted Cracking;
  • Inhibitors - Vapor Transported and Surface Coated Rust Preventatives (RP);
  • Marine Coatings and Corrosion;
  • Military Coatings and Corrosion;
  • Surface Preparation; and
  • Thermal and Cold Spray Coatings.

A full list of symposia topics can be viewed, here. Any symposium that does not appear to be identified that individuals are interested in presenting on are asked to email and provide a brief description of their educational and professional experience that demonstrates their knowledge of the subject by May 3.

When submitting an abstract, individuals/teams are asked to complete the following required information:

  • Abstract title;
  • Background that describes the purpose of this work;
  • Indicate whether this work has previously been presented at another conference or in another publication;
  • Abstract (300-400 words);
  • Describe how this paper will enhance the existing body of literature and advance the industry;
  • Select up to 10 keywords that relate to your submission;
  • Select up to five industries that relate to your submission;
  • Identify the type of paper (Case Study, Review, New Product, New Research, Other);
  • Describe the level of research and complexity (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced); and
  • Add secondary/co-authors, if applicable.

Key deadlines for submissions are as follows:
