CORROSION Announces 2021 Virtual Conference

Recently, NACE International, The Worldwide Corrosion Authority (now part of the newly formed Association for Materials Protection and Performance) announced that its CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo would take place on April 19-30.

The news comes after the organization had to cancel its 2020 event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

What We Know

Due to Utah’s COVID-19 limitations on group gatherings, the organization has been prevented from hosting an in-person event at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.

According to NACE, the virtual conference plans to offer dynamic programming, an expanded virtual exhibit hall and essential networking opportunities featuring AI-technology. However, while no schedules or committee meetings have been posted at this time, staff liaisons are slated to begin outreach efforts this month, with plans to publish a revised schedule no later than Feb. 15.

In regard to registration, any deferred registration fees intended for last year’s conferences will be applied to CORROSION2021 Virtual Conference & Expo, although, these fees can also be transferred to the 2022 annual conference. Any slated attendees wishing to transfer the fees to a different event or product, or request a refund, can reach NACE International’s FirstService team here.

Refund requests must be received by 5 p.m. CDT on Jan. 22.

As for speakers who were scheduled to present at CORROSION 2021, the association notes that they can still present by completing a virtual speaker agreement. All authors must complete the speaker agreement and ensure that their employer will allow their presentation to be recorded and remain available on-demand in the event platform until Oct. 31.

The speaker agreement and updated deadlines were sent out to authors/presenters earlier this week and are also to be completed by Jan. 22.

While details are still being ironed out, the association asks that interested parties and attendees continue to check the website and social media platforms for active updates.

In the meantime, NACE FirstService is working to address questions and inquiries regarding CORROSION 2021. A full FAQ regarding the virtual conference can viewed, here.
