NACE International Opens Call for Abstracts

On behalf of NACE International, The Worldwide Corrosion Authority, last week SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings (slated to officially combine with NACE on Jan. 1, 2021) revealed that the authority had announced a call for abstracts for its upcoming Bring on the Heat event.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Pasadena Convention Center and Municipal Fairgrounds in Pasadena, Texas, from June 15-16, 2021.

According to NACE, the event has brought together owners, operators and industry experts together to discuss issues related to passive fire protection, corrosion under insulation, thermal insulation coatings, thermal spray aluminum, and owner issues in the petrochemical area.

“The conference will offer two days of meetings and presentations on topics related to passive fire protection, corrosion under insulation, and other high temperature coatings,” wrote the authority. “In our exhibit hall, you will see the latest products and services from local, national and international companies who cater to solving issues specific to topics discussed at the conference.”

To submit an abstract, guidelines include/involve:

  • Giving a formal presentation at the event (presenters may be eligible to receive a discounted price to attend);
  • Standard presentation length is 30 minutes;
  • A PowerPoint presentation is required with the presentation;
  • All deadlines listed for presentation review must be met;
  • All requirements for formatting and content for presentations must be followed;
  • A brief biography is required; and
  • All presenters will be required to pay for their registration. However, chosen presenters will be given a discount off whatever registration category they choose.

For the abstracts, the conference committee is requesting that interested individuals solicit presentations on topics related to corrosion under insulation, passive fire protection, or other topics related to high temperature coatings.

Key dates include:

  • Jan. 8, 2021 – abstracts are due; and
  • May 4, 2021 – deadline for presentations and advanced registration.
