Bids Needed for CA Tank Painting

The City of Shafter is currently seeking contractors to coat and improve Tank No. 2 in Shafter, California.

Bids are due Sept. 4. A pre-bid meeting will be held Aug. 18.

The cost estimate is $750,000.

Scope of Work

This project involves cleaning and recoating the interior surfaces of an existing 2.3 million-gallon steel ground water storage tank.

Contractors will abrasive blast clean the interior surfaces to White Metal standards (SSPC-SP 5). Submerged interior floor and shell surfaces will be coated with a 100% solids epoxy system. Non-submerged interior roof and shell surfaces will be coated with a three-coat epoxy system.

Dehumidification is required. The work also includes installing a new cathodic protection system.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Sherwin-Williams, Devoe, Carboline or an approved equal.
