Deadline Extended for Prestige Awards
The nomination deadline for the third-annual PaintSquare Prestige Awards—dedicated to recognizing and honoring the most influential people, innovative products and skill-involved projects—has been extended.
The Prestige Awards program focuses on the professionals who make the industry work, the coatings and equipment used daily in the field, and the projects that bring all of these aspects to life.
The deadline for submissions is now Oct. 9. There is no fee to enter.
This year’s awards are divided into four major categories: Top People, Top Innovations, Top Products and, new to the 2020 Prestige Awards, the Top Project. Each category includes awards for people, products and projects that successfully perform specific roles in the preparation and execution of a protective coatings project.
Nominees will be highlighted in the fall issue of PaintSquare Press, and voting will begin then. Winners will then be showcased in the winter issue of PSP.
The Top People honors will be awarded in three subcategories:
Each will be judged on a set of criteria that includes the following:
Industry Impact - How has this individual’s work contributed to the protective and marine coatings industry as a whole? What innovations or practices has this person championed in order to improve the protection of steel and concrete structures on the whole?
Personal Achievement - How does this individual set themself apart from others in the same field? How has this person gone “above and beyond” in comparison with most others in the industry?
Professional Interaction - How has this individual had an impact on others around them in the workplace and the industry in general? How are their colleagues better off for working with them?
Extracurricular - How does this individual’s impact extend beyond the workplace and coatings industry? Have they contributed to the community in general as a volunteer, mentor or community figure?

Top Innovations will be awarded in two subcategories: Coatings and Equipment. To be eligible for this honor, the product must have been brought to market between January 2019 and January 2020. Companies may nominate their own products or those from other companies.
In the past, there was a nomination fee for each individual product nomination. In an effort to expand the nominations pool and ensure that no innovation is left out of consideration, PaintSquare has waived nomination fees for this year’s Top Innovations.
Winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:
The Prestige Awards will also honor individual coating and equipment products nominated by the PaintSquare audience. Winners in these categories will be chosen by a popular vote process publicized in PaintSquare Press and on PaintSquare.com. Categories for the Top Product awards will include the following:
New to the 2020 Prestige Awards program, the Top Project category will recognize the players involved in a notable industrial protective coatings project completed during 2019. This project may employ some of the nominated Top Products and Innovations, or involve some of the Top People chosen by the industry. Projects can be submitted from the Bridge and Highway; Water and Wastewater; Marine; and Energy (including oil and gas production) sectors.
Project nominations should include details about the project and companies involved, as well as project photos.
Nominations for all categories of the 2020 PaintSquare Prestige Awards can be made online at paintsquare.com/prestige.
