Registration Now Open for Roofing Day 2020

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2020

The National Roofing Contractor Association recently announced that registration is now open for Roofing Day in D.C. 2020, which is slated to take place April 21-22.

“The purpose of the event is to bring the roofing industry together to meet with members of Congress and their staffs and deliver the industry’s message with ‘one voice,’” according to the association.

“Professionals from all segments of the roofing industry will come to Washington, D.C., to advocate for the roofing industry regarding issues on which there is broad consensus: immigration reform that meets the roofing industry’s workforce needs; increased funding for career and technical education programs; and promoting the use of energy-efficiency technologies in the residential, commercial and industrial building sectors.”

Last Year

Last year, NRCA Chairman of the Board Kent Schwickert, NRCA Chairman of the Board-Elect Nick Sabino and NRCA CEO Reid Ribble met with White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney to discuss some of the aforementioned issues, including immigration reform and worker training incentives.

Leadership explained at the time that it believes the shortage of qualified workers is the most significant limitation on the ability of roofing industry employers to grow their businesses, and the NRCA noted that this problem will become even more acute in the future because of an aging workforce, educational trends and ongoing rebuilding efforts resulting from recent hurricanes and other natural disasters throughout the U.S.

Registration

The NRCA encourages roofing contractors to register and also bring one or more crew members to attend the event.

Registration is $95 for company representatives, and the organization is offering a special registration rate of $35 for roof-system installers through Feb. 29. The Marriott Washington Wardman Park is the host hotel.
