KTA-Tator (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) announced in an emailed press release that it has purchased a 17.65-acre parcel at RIDC Park West, Enterprise Drive, for $1.02 million for the development of a larger facility.

KTA is currently located at RIDC Park West, having since acquired its building in 1981. Over time, it has expanded from a 12,000-square-foot building to 33,500 square feet, with the addition of leasing 2,500 square feet from a neighboring building.

“The primary purpose of the new location is to facilitate more efficient work flow and allow for expansion of both staff, R&D, and testing facilities,” says KTA Chief Executive Officer, Dan Adley.

“The facility will house metalworking [operations], material testing facilities, analytical laboratories, training facilities, instrument sales and service facilities and office operations for corporate services and all five business units. We foresee adding 20 or more new staff over the next few years.”

Bear Construction and Cannon Design have been retained as the design-build team for the project.

KTA expects site development work for the new 48,000-square-foot building to begin in June with a move-in date in November 2020.
