Monti Werkzeuge to Combine Americas Businesses

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2019

Surface preparation technologies manufacturer Monti Werkzeuge GmbH (Hennef, Germany) recently announced in an emailed press release that it has reached an agreement with its U.S. distributor, Montipower Inc. (Manassas, Virginia), combining MontiPower with a U.S. subsidiary of Monti Werkzeuge, Monti Tools Inc. (Houston).

Combined, the businesses, to be located at Montipower’s current home in Manassas, will be collectively known as MontiPower Americas Inc., trading under the name MontiPower.

Business Merger

Moving forward, owner Charles “Chuck” Lockard will serve as General Manager for the United States and Canada, leading the new combined business. MTI’s offices in Houston will be closed after a transition period, though MontiPower will maintain a presence in the southwest through the offices of MTest, a division of MontiPower, located in Humble, Texas, according to the company.

“The long-term presence of two separate entities representing Monti in the [U.S.] and Canada and competing against each other makes little sense,” said Monti Werkzeuge Gmbh CEO Frits Doddema.

“When I joined Monti, it was clear to me that this situation had to be resolved and I’m pleased that we have been able to reach [an] agreement with Chuck to move forward as a joined business under his leadership. The combined MontiPower entity will be larger and stronger and provide us with the foundation we need for future growth in these important markets.”

Lockhard added: “I am very pleased that we are able to take this step today and create a combined MontiPower. I have long argued the former situation undermined our ability to compete and caused needless confusion in the market. I appreciate very much the vision of the new Monti management and I look forward to working closely with them to bring new and innovative surface preparation products to the market and grow our business in the [U.S.] and Canada.”
