SCTPP Commission Co-Chair Ross Myers noted that the certification was the culmination of five years of work by industry safety leaders in both the public and private sectors.

“Many are aware of the ANSI-approved Certified Safety Professional designation and its value,” said Myers. “But the SCTPP was developed to address safety issues specific to transportation project sites and designed primarily for non-safety professionals.”

The goal of the SCTPP program is to provide thousands of workers employed on transportation projects with their own “safety vision” that could help decrease the amount of safety incidents. Since the program launched in 2016, more than 230 professions from over 75 firms and agencies have earned the certification.
