Carboline Starts on New Fire Facility
Coatings manufacturer Carboline Company (St. Louis, Missouri) announced Wednesday that it has broken ground on a new passive fire protection testing facility.
The company says that the $4 million facility will be a state-of-the-art, full-scale addition to its Research, Development & Innovation Center, and is slated to be completed by the end of 2018.
“Our new testing facility will increase our speed to market for new fireproofing products, give us the ability to receive approvals for alternate raw materials and fulfill testing requirements for ever-changing codes and regulations,” said Jim Rippe, executive vice president, fireproofing/engineering sales.
Carboline says that the new space will be the first manufacturer-owned, UL-approved fire-testing facility in North America.
The construction of the facility means that the Carboline will be able to test its own products on its own timeline and won’t have to rely on outside testing agencies.
The company notes that it felt like the expansion was necessary to keep up with new developments in the coatings industry.
