Houston Group Gears Up for Painting Competition

MONDAY, MARCH 19, 2018

Painters will have a chance to show off their skills this spring as the Coating Society of the Houston Area holds its 29th Annual Painters Competition March 31 at the Pasadena Fairgrounds, in Pasadena, Texas.

The yearly event allows teams of painters from different contractors to square off against one another for the title of best in the area. Each team will consist of three workers: a foreman, a craftsman and a helper. First place nets the winning team $900 and a free SSPC or NACE International training course.

The event is family-friendly, with tailgating encouraged; there will be door prizes, face-painting, a cookout with hot dogs and hamburgers, and new this year due to the competition’s proximity to the Easter holiday, an Easter egg hunt.

The event opens at 7:30 a.m., with the competition beginning in earnest at 9 a.m.

Annual Trade Show

The competition comes ahead of the April 13 CSHA Trade Show, held at the Pasadena Convention Center. This year’s trade show features an exhibit floor with more than 70 exhibitors, a technical program dealing with a cleaning additive used in conjunction with waterjetting or abrasive blasting for offshore maintenance, and a reception with food and a live band.
