Rain-Resistant Air Barrier System Launched

GCP Applied Technologies Inc. (Cambridge, Massachusetts) recently announced the launch of a new permeable, liquid-applied air barrier that features a chemical formula that, according to the company, does not wash off when exposed to light rain following application.

The Perm-A-Barrier VPL50 has a membrane that minimizes the impact of weather with its rain-resistant silyl-terminated polyether technology, the company says, adding that the roller-applied air barrier helps reduce delays and time-consuming re-applications due to weather, driving down the cost of installation

“GCP Applied Technologies is dedicated to developing products that solve construction challenges,” said Greg Austin, Global Product Director, GCP Applied Technologies. “Weather has always been a limiting factor that contractors cannot control."

GCP also notes that the product meets air barrier industry standards and is NFPA 285 compliant in a number of wall assemblies.
