Illinois-based industrial e-coating manufacturer Tru-Tone Finishing Inc. recently announced that it will be opening a plant in Lexington, Kentucky, which will open up 120 jobs in the region.

The company plans to open the plant this summer, and add powder coating capacity by 2019.

Lexington Plant

According to a news release from Gov. Matt Bevin, Tru-Tone’s announcement to open a plant in Lexington was evidence that local automotive and industrial sectors continue to attract thriving companies to the state.

The plant will be located in an existing 70,000-square-foot building, with the plant operating on three 35-employee shifts.

“We have been targeting locations that will allow us to serve our existing customers, as well as expand our business in the Southeast, and Kentucky lets us to do that,” said Tru-Tone President Greg Klemenswicz.

“The Lexington facility also made it possible to reach parts of the Midwest and East. We are very excited to be growing and building on our relationships with companies in the region and to become a part of the city and state business communities.”

E-coating is most often used by the automotive industry for corrosion resistance, but has also been used in construction, agricultural and telecom equipment.

Tru-Tone will also be able to receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network, which means it can receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives.

Klemenswicz is part of the second generation to take over the family-owned company. Tru-Tone was originally founded in 1986 and opened a plant in Brownville, Texas, in 2012.
