1MG Tank Up for Recoat in NC

The City of Goldsboro is seeking contractors for recoating the Center and Holly Street Tank, located in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held Jan. 31.

Bids are due Feb. 5.

Scope of Work

This project involves cleaning and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of the existing 1 million-gallon elevated water storage tank.

Contractors will oversee abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10) of interior steel surfaces. The interior will then be coated with a zinc-rich urethane primer and three-coat epoxy system. Interior piping within the valve vaults, and the exterior of the valve vault will be coated as well.

Exterior steel surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6). Exterior surfaces will receive a zinc-rich urethane primer, epoxy stripe coat, polyurethane intermediate coat and fluoropolymer topcoat.

The work also includes abrasive blast-cleaning and coating concrete footing surfaces with an epoxy concrete sealer.

The only approved manufacturer for all surfaces is Tnemec.

Containment is required. Lead-based paint may be present at the top of the base finial section.
