Kryton International Inc. (Vancouver), the inventor of crystalline concrete waterproofing, recently announced the acquisition of Cementec Industries Inc. (Calgary), which specializes in producing concrete additives for the construction, oil and gas sectors.

Cementec Acquisition

Acquiring Cementec is part of Kryton’s move to expand its existing lines of Smart Concrete waterproofing solutions. Hard-Cem, developed by Cementec, is a concrete hardening admixture that makes concrete abrasion and erosion resistant. Kryton reports that the addition of the admixture makes concrete floors and infrastructure last up to six times longer than untreated concrete, which minimizes costly repairs and shutdowns.

Cementec also manufactures Silica Fume products, which are used to strengthen and densify concrete. This can be used in conjunction with Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane, according to Kryton.

“Hard-Cem and Silica Fume will extend our product offerings in integral concrete durability, erosion and abrasion protection. We intend to be a go-to solutions provider to an industry that is increasingly concerned about protecting and extending the lifespan of concrete structures” said Kevin Yuers, Vice-President of Product Development at Kryton.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
