-
“Reactive coatings for fire protection on steel elements in the frame work of European harmonization,” presented by Peter Proscheck, of the Centre for Competence in Construction, in Germany. Proscheck will examine forthcoming European technical specifications for construction, concentrating specifically on specs for reactive coatings for fire protection.
-
“New fire-retardant PU binder—invisible and very effective,” presented by Rolf Simon, of Synthopol Chemie, in Germany. Simon will discuss a newly developed waterborne polyurethane dispersion that includes a flame-retardant monomer that he says shows “excellent behavior in case of a flame disaster.” The coating goes on clear, making it an attractive option for applications where appearance is important, he notes.
-
“Aspects of sustainability and appearance in modern fire protective coatings,” presented by Phil Wilson, of International Paint U.K. Wilson will look at fire protective coatings in terms of some properties not always stressed: sustainability, including social, economic and environmental aspects, and appearance.
Discussion groups will center their work around topics including fire protection on wood, steel construction, regulations, testing methods and more.
