PPG Offers Coating to NHL Goal Posts

PPG Industries (Pittsburgh) announced last week (Oct. 4) that it is now offering its industrial coatings for use on National Hockey League goal posts.

The company says that its Envirocon Extreme Protection can be used to protect the equipment from scuffs and chips in the cold environment of ice hockey.

The company says that its Envirocon Extreme Protection can be used to protect the equipment from scuffs and chips in the cold environment of ice hockey.

“After extensive testing, PPG is proud to provide the high-performing coatings for this challenging application,” said Shelley Verdun, PPG product manager, Industrial Coatings.

“From pucks to skate blades, we know that the red paint on NHL goal posts takes a beating. The Envirocron Extreme Protection powder coating system, with its proprietary chip resistant technology in cold environments, will prevent chips, reduce scuffs and reduce maintenance time.”

The company says benefits of the product include application transfer efficiency, consistent film, a wide application window, improved chip mitigation, color-matching capabilities and impact resistance in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
