Specialty chemicals company Sika (Baar, Switzerland) has acquired ABC Sealants, a Turkish-based sealants and adhesives manufacturer.

According to the company, the acquisition aims to strengthen Sika’s position as a “comprehensive supplier of solutions for interior finishing applications.”

The Istanbul company produces a wide range of construction sealants and adhesives and will serve as a distribution and production hub for Sika’s Middle East and Africa customer base.

Sika says that the companies hope to profit from the cross-selling opportunities that the arrangement creates.

“This acquisition provides us with a solid production platform to further expand the sealant and adhesive business in Turkey as well as in the Middle East and Africa,” said Ivo Shcadler, Sika’s regional manager, EMEA.

“We welcome the new employees into the Sika team and look forward to growing our business together.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
