Coil Coatings Firm Unveils Universal Primer
Global coil coatings manufacturer Beckers Group recently introduced a new primer that the company says can take the place of multiple other primers under polyesters, urethanes, PVDF and other coatings.
Beckers’ newly launched universal primer provides a number of properties the firm says make it effective for user under various topcoats. The high-solids primer provides corrosion protection and increased opacity, according to Beckers. It also improves total solar reflectance for dark substrates, the company says, and is characterized by solid direct-to-metal adhesion.
According to Beckers, the primer allows for line speeds up to 700 feet per minute.
Because the new product is compatible with a number of different topcoats, the company notes, applicators are able to spend less time changing and cleaning lines, and fewer stock keeping units are necessary to store primers.
