Contractors Sought for 4-Tank Rehab in MD
Saint Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is seeking contractors for the coating of four existing water tanks located in California, Maryland.
A nonmandatory pre-bid meeting will be held Aug. 30.
Bids are due Sept. 19.
Scope of Work
The project will include rehabilitation of two existing water towers and two hydro-pneumatic tanks.
Exterior surfaces of the 150,000-gallon Wildewood tower will be high-pressure cleaned, spot power-tool cleaned to Bare Metal (SSPC-SP 11) where coating failure is present, spot primed and coated with a two-coat acrylic system.
Dry interior surfaces of the Wildewood tower, including baseball piping, will be cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a two-coat epoxy system. The wet interior surface will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Near White (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with a three-coat zinc-epoxy system. The concrete foundation will be pressure-cleaned and receive a two-coat epoxy system.
Contractors will also oversee cleaning and coating of the 250,000-gallon Wilcomico Shores tower. Dry interior surfaces will be cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6) and spot-coated with a two-coat epoxy system. The wet interior will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with a three-coat zinc-epoxy system.
Wilcomico Shores tower exterior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a four-coat zinc-epoxy-polyurethane-fluoropolymer system. The concrete foundation surfaces will be pressure cleaned and coated with a two-coat epoxy system.
The exterior of both 8,000-gallon hydro-pneumatic tanks will be cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a four-coat zinc-epoxy-polyurethane-fluoropolymer system. Wet interior surfaces of both tanks will require cleaning to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and coating with a three-coat zinc-epoxy system.
The existing coatings on three of these tanks currently contain lead, chromium and cadmium. Containment is required.
