Hardness Tester Removes Human Element
A new hardness tester from Elcometer (Manchester, U.K.) is designed to provide fully automated testing of coating hardness, removing the potential for human error from the process.
The Elcometer 3045 can be used for Persoz or König pendulum hardness testing, with no human intervention. The company says the automated process allows for accuracy and repeatability.
Features
The tester includes a dual-axis bubble-level indicator to help ensure correct alignment, and performs a full calibration routine, automatically adjusting to meet the specified standard, according to Elcometer. Samples up to 7.85 by 4.33 by 0.55 inches can be tested.
The machine includes batch memory that stores all test data for output to a computer using Elcometer’s proprietary data management software.
The Elcometer 3045 can be used in accordance with ASTM D 4366, BS 3900 E5, DIN 53157, ISO 1522 and NF T30-016, the company says.
