New Floor Epoxy Features Low Viscosity

MONDAY, JULY 17, 2017

Polyset (Mechanicville, New York) has unveiled a new self-leveling epoxy system designed for use on floors requiring high-performance coatings.

Ply-Guard EP is a low-viscosity, 100 percent solids epoxy system that the company says can be used as a primer, finish coat, aggregate binder, slurry coat or epoxy mortar. Polyset recommends the product for use in applications including manufacturing facilities, warehouses, loading docks, automotive facilities and airplane hangars.

Low Viscosity Benefits

The product’s low viscosity means improved handling at lower temperatures, the company notes, and allows for the addition of fine silica fillers for easy application of slurry-type floors.

The product also comes in a UVR version, fortified with a UV absorber package and designed for exterior use as a reglaze material over decorative epoxy pebble systems. At 77 degrees Fahrenheit, the regular cure product is ready for light traffic in 16 hours; the fast cure Ply-Guard EP is ready for light traffic in 12.

Ply-Guard EP is available in 16 standard colors, in addition to black, white and clear. Polyset says the clear product is recommended for use over color quartz aggregate and decorative architectural concrete.

The product comes in 1.5-gallon and 15-gallon kits.
