Clearcoat Made for Commercial Transportation
A new clearcoat product from Axalta Coating Systems (Philadelphia) is designed for coating work during the manufacture or repair of commercial transportation vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks and buses.
Imron Elite 8831S is a low-VOC polyurethane clearcoat that Axalta recommends for application over an Imron basecoat or a single-stage topcoat. According to the company, it is recommended for customers with force dry capabilities, and is designed for use on panel repairs and overall applications.
Application Details
The two-component clearcoat has a pot life of two hours at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the company, and force-dries in 30 minutes at 140 to 160 degrees.
“Axalta’s Imron Elite 8831S clearcoat is an excellent addition to our product portfolio for the transportation market,” said James Fawcett, Axalta Commercial Transportation product manager. “Customers who manufacture or repair heavy-duty trucks, transit buses, coaches and other commercial vehicles will find value in the durability, weatherability and flexibility properties of Imron Elite 8831S.”
