A new high-performance graphene intermediate product for coatings formulators has been unveiled by U.K. company Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. (Consett, England), which also recently announced an expansion into the United States.

Elicarb Graphene Epoxy Dispersion is aimed to be a cost effective, stable, easy-to-handle dispersion of the Elicarb Materials Grade Graphene powder into epoxy-based coating formulations.

“Listening to our customers within the coatings industry, we learned that they require a reliable supply of graphene in a stable dispersion if graphene containing coatings are to be tested and adopted,” said Clive O’Leary, business director of Thomas Swan’s performance chemicals division.

The product, which is available in liter quantities, is targeted at improving corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, chemical barrier and mechanical resistance in industrial coatings, the company said.

Earlier this month, Swan Chemical Inc., a subsidiary of Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd., announced it will note be distributing Robinson Brothers’ Robac technology for rubber accelerators and polymer chemicals in the U.S. and Canada.

SCI is a full-service distributor of rubber products including accelerators, waxes, blowing agents, batch inclusion bags and other specialty chemicals in North America, while Robac Technology’s products provide rubber additive solutions for heightened regulatory demands in terms of health, safety and environmental matters.
