New Pigment Line Addition ‘Brilliant’

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2017

A new aluminum effects pigment from BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany) is designed to expand options for the high-performance industrial coatings industry, as well as automotive coatings.

Paliocrom Brilliant Red EH 1000 (L 3254) is, according to the manufacturer, an extremely saturated mid-shade red silver dollar aluminum pigment. BASF notes that the pigment exhibits significant travel, gloss and hide characteristics.

Ultra-smooth aluminum flakes are coated in an optimized process, the company says, and passivated to provide gassing stability.

New Addition to Established Line

The Paliocrom line, which has been available for 25 years, is recommended by BASF in formulating automotive OEM coatings, coil coatings and some industrial coatings.

The new color will officially be introduced at the European Coatings Show 2017, April 4-6, in Nuremberg, Germany.
