WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2017

Philadelphia-based Axalta Coating Systems has announced plans to acquire Los Angeles-based Ellis Paint Company.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ellis, founded in Montana in 1887, has been based in California since the 1930s. In addition to the Pacific Coat Lacquer line of auto refinish paints, the company offers industrial paints and coatings under the Hy-Lux, Shaft-Lac, Maximus and Engard lines, as well as direct-to-metal and industrial aerosol products.

Ellis’s industrial offerings range from solventborne enamels for wood and metal substrates to corrosion-resistant primers for tanks, pipelines, ships and other applications, and urethanes for concrete floors, machinery, structural steel and similar uses.
