Pavia Systems (Seattle), a software company specializing in technology for the transportation infrastructure industry has partnered with construction engineering firm Jacobs (Pasadena, CA) to launch of a tool meant to assist teams in performing on-site project inspections.

The new HeadLight system was designed to replace the traditional pen-and-paper method of reporting with software that allows construction inspectors to interact collaboratively with project owners and workers through an integrated mobile solution, the firm says.

“We built the HeadLight technology to revolutionize the project inspection process with e-Construction,” said Si Katara, president and co-founder of Pavia Systems.

Collaboration with industry experts, the company notes, helped it to develop a tool that would decrease the amount of time inspectors spend on office paperwork, increase the quantity and quality of data, and provide construction managers and project engineers with immediate insights and a virtual window into projects 24/7.

According to the company, inspectors using this technology can collect real-time data with photo and video capabilities, track equipment and personnel in the field, upload reference files, and flag areas of on-site concern in real time.

Jacobs is currently using the HeadLight tool on the U.S. 75 highway project in Dallas, according to Pavia Systems.
