Coatings App Gets Expanded Mobile Access
Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings (Cleveland) has announced that its Water & Wastewater App is now available for use on smartphones.
The original tablet version of the application was created to help engineers access accurate and up-to-date coatings information via mobile technology, the company says. The new smartphone version is intended to make access to protective coatings data even more convenient, it adds.
“Repairing or rehabilitating a water or wastewater asset requires careful consideration of the substrates involved, the operating conditions and many other variables that impact selection of the right coating system,” says Kevin Morris, market segment director.
Noting that water and wastewater professionals have expressed a desire to have this data readily available to answer coating specification questions, he adds: “With the smartphone app, we’re making it even easier to access this data so they’re never far from an answer.”
On-the-Go Info
The app reportedly provides on-the-go protective coating recommendations for more than 35 functional areas across six water and wastewater operations, including conventional water treatment, membrane water/wastewater treatment, water storage, water conveyance, sewer collection and wastewater treatment.
Within the app, users can select the type of functional area in need of coating, according to the manufacturer, such as sewer collection systems, digesters and clarifiers. They can then view specific recommendations, such as the primary coating system to use, the appropriate dry film thickness for each coat, and the total mils for the system.
Results are also said to include surface preparation tips, descriptions of coating application processes and links to product data sheets.
The smartphone application is optimized for all iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, the company says, adding that it will be updated as new products are introduced and older products become unavailable.
