The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) bestowed a number of awards and honors upon leaders in the construction industry during a ceremony held Thursday (Sept. 8) at CONSTRUCT 2016 & The CSI Annual Convention in Austin, TX.
Among those recognized was Kent R. Kile, CSI, CCPR, an architectural manager at PPG. Kile is listed as the Architectural Liaison of CSI’s Nashville Chapter, Gulf States Region.
Kile was among nine CSI members elevated to the Fellows of the Institute this year, honored for their accomplishments in advancing construction technology, improving construction specifications, educating the construction industry, or advancing the goals of the Institute.

In the organization’s 68-year history, fewer than 430 members have been elevated to Fellowship, according to CSI.
Devotion to the Institute
CSI recognized Kile for “his devotion to and belief in CSI certification and education,” CSI said in award details. Specifically, Kile revamped the Spring 2015 Certified Construction Product Representative exam, revitalizing its future, according to CSI.
The Institute also honored Kile for his work with the Certification Maintenance Group at CSI and his overall dedication to the Institute.

Distinguished Membership
The organization also awarded Dennis J. Hall, FCSI, Lifetime Member, CCS, CCCA, and Sheldon Wolfe, RA, FCSI, CCS, CCCA, CSC, the Distinguished Membership, CSI’s most prestigious honor, during the awards ceremony.
The designation is conferred upon individuals who have performed distinguished services to the construction industry in fields of activity related to the purposes of the Institute.

Hall, a CSI member since 1984, was nominated by CSI's Charlotte Chapter for his service to the construction industry through development and improvement of industry standards and practice tools and for sharing knowledge which has educated the profession, improved communities and advanced the construction industry, according to CSI. He is the managing principal of Hall Architects Inc. | Building Information Group.
Wolfe, a CSI member since 1987, was nominated by CSI’s Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter for his service to the industry in numerous fields and advancing the organization’s mission at the local, regional and national levels. He is a specification writer with BWBR in St. Paul.
CSI is a national association dedicated to improving the documentation, management and communication of building information as used by the construction community.
