MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2016

In a move to expand its drying and dehumidification services in North America, a Scottish power generation and HVAC specialty rental business has acquired industrial climate control company DRYCO LLC.

Aggreko plc, based in Glasgow, purchased the Downers Grove, IL, company for an undisclosed amount in August, Aggreko announced through its North American headquarters office in Houston.

According to Mel Parker, managing director at Aggreko North America, the acquisition combines the technical strengths of the two companies in such a way that customers will be able to take advantage of “an unparalleled range of services that address their HVAC and moisture control needs.”

“We are pleased to have DRYCO join the Aggreko team, enabling us to accelerate growth and meet the rapid demand for our services in the shipping, food and beverage, and painting and coatings industries,” he said.

Working Together

Founded in 2000, DRYCO specializes in moisture control, drying, heating and cooling applications within the shipping, manufacturing, food processing, construction and industrial painting industries.

DRYCO brings its 10 full-service locations in North America and established customer base in its targeted industries to the table, complementing Aggreko’s growth strategy.

The acquisition will also add more than 60 experienced employees and approximately 6,000 specialized assets to Aggreko’s fleet, the company said in its statement.

“DRYCO is excited to join forces with Aggreko to become the leading provider of drying and dehumidification services,” DRYCO CEO Joe Schroeder stated. “Our teams share the same passion and commitment to service excellence, and we look forward to working together to further grow Aggreko’s business.”

Aggreko intends to fully integrate DRYCO’s operations into its North America business, the company said, while also developing expansion plans to enter additional sectors and global markets.

Aggreko provides modular, mobile power and adjacent product solutions to customers in approximately 100 countries.

Aggreko holds two business units: Rental Solutions and Power Solutions.

The Rental Solutions group develops solutions for and leases equipment to customers who then operate it for themselves, although Aggreko retains responsibility for servicing and maintaining it. Operating across all sectors in the market, the group is said to be heavily involved in oil and gas, petrochemical and refining, mining and events.

The Power Solutions group functions as a power producer. Installing and operating modular, mobile power plants for both utility and industrial customers, the group charges both for providing the generating capacity, and for the electricity it produces. The industrial side of the group serves oil and gas, petrochemical and refining and mining, while its utility business helps countries solve their power shortages, the company says.

Equipment is designed and manufactured at Aggreko’s factory in Dumbarton, Scotland.
