Tennant Coatings Buys Florock
In a move to expand its floor coatings portfolio, the Tennant Company has acquired the Florock Polymer Flooring brand from Crawford Laboratories Inc.
Terms of the transaction, announced Monday (Aug. 1), were not disclosed.
Founded in 1952, Florock is a third-generation, family-run business offering a range of floor coating systems for a variety of industries.
Based in Chicago, Florock is described as a leader in research and development, production and installations of flooring systems for commercial, industrial and institutional applications, according to Tennant.
Tennant Company plans to retain the Florock brand and manage the Tennant and Florock brands and sales channels separately, according to Byron Smith, VP of Tennant Coatings.
Aviva Llorens, whose grandfather, Benjamin A. Schmetterer, founded Florock, will continue with Tennant Coatings, managing key customer interactions at Florock’s headquarters.
“My father, David Schmetterer, and I are confident we made the right choice for our customers and our employees by selecting Tennant to carry on the legacy my grandfather started more than 60 years ago,” said Llorens.
“We are all very excited about the future and the possibilities ahead of us working together as part of the global Tennant Company,” she added.
Smith commented, “The combination of Tennant Coatings and Florock enhances our ability to grow the coatings business so that we can expand our reach and strengthen our value proposition to more customers. Together, we can provide flooring contractors and their customers across a multitude of industries with the right solution, for the right environment.”
Tennant Coatings operations will remain in Minneapolis, where the company is headquartered.
