New Issue Now Online


The latest issue of D+D In Depth, featuring four probing articles on architectural coatings and related technologies, is now available online.

Released via e-mail May 25, the issue includes articles on coatings and materials for healthy schools as well as the use of color in architecture.  


Billy Rosbottom of Sto Studio describes the evolution of aesthetics in institutional architecture in the article, “Color in Institutional Spaces.” Jeff Alexander of Valspar provides a look at the increased use of color in new construction, highlighting a few high-profile projects in his article, “From Drab to Daring: The Explosion of Color in Coatings.”

On the topic of finishes and maintenance practices in schools, Robert J. Kobet (LEED Faculty, retired) and Paula McEvoy of Perkins+Will describe the importance of material selection, as it has a direct impact on the health and productivity of a building’s occupants.

The benefits of calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement-based overlays are described by Jose Ruiz of CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp. in his article.
