WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2016

A new addition to Valspar’s Fluropon line of architectural coatings promises to be more sustainable and better suited to meet green building needs, according to the manufacturer.

Fluropon Pure, a new addition to Valspar’s coil and extrusion coatings line, is recommended for project teams looking to meet LEED or other environmental standards while maintaining high standards for durability and color retention, the company states.

The coating is designed for application to hot-dip galvanized or aluminum materials via coil-coating, and can be applied to aluminum extrusions via spray, according to product materials.

Valspar says the product is formulated without the use of hexavalent chromium, lead, phthalates or PFOA.

The company also notes that documentation of the materials used in the formulation is available, showing the transparency needed to meet LEED materials and resources requirements.

In addition to materials transparency, Valspar touts the new product’s role in reducing the heat island effect when used on cool roof materials.
