APE to Buy Corrosion Specialties

APE Companies, of Deer Park, TX, is expanding its reach and capabilities through the acquisition Corrosion Specialties Inc.

Corrosion Specialties Inc., based in Duluth, GA, is a corrosion control equipment and consumable products provider that serves the transportation, manufacturing, and energy industries.

APE Companies, formerly Abrasive Products & Equipment, announced the deal via email Tuesday (March 29). Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Growth and Market Expansion

APE, a distributor of surface preparation, safety and environmental management products, serves contractors who maintain and repair industrial facilities and equipment in the Gulf Coast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast markets.

“This addition to our partnership will further propel the growth of APE through geographic market expansion into the Southeast, end user diversification and a larger product and service offering for CSI’s customers,” said Kevin Willis, CEO of APE Companies.

CSI will continue to operate a distribution center in its Duluth headquarters as well as a distribution center in Jacksonville, FL.

“CSI has been a well-respected name in the abrasives business for 50 years and we’re very excited to welcome the team to our family of companies,” Willis added.

A Business Transformation

CSI owners Matt and Andy Steinmann said that joining the APE platform is “transformational for our business.”

They explained that the access to more abrasive and safety-related products and equipment will better serve CSI’s existing customers and help attract new business.

“We have known the APE management team for many years and share the same vision on how to grow and adapt to changing demands in the market,” the Steinmanns added.

The APE family of companies includes Abrasive Products & Equipment, BKW Environmental, Sharpjet and Corrosion Specialties. It is a portfolio company of private equity firm Ridgemont Equity Partners.
