Dow Updates Facer for Rainscreen Systems
Dow Building Solutions has introduced a dark exterior facer to optimize its THERMAX XARMOR (ci) Exterior Insulation for rainscreen applications in North America.
“As the global rainscreen cladding market is expected to expand, THERMAX XARMOR is well positioned to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Matt Marchel, business director, Dow Building Solutions. “Architects will have increased ability to customize projects and are able [to] leverage essential tools from the newly enhanced [system]...”
The XARMOR continuous insulation system also serves as a water-resistant barrier and air barrier.
According to Dow, the system minimizes thermal shorts and moderates the temperature of the wall cavity, reducing the potential for dew point condensation, mold and mildew.
The acrylic-coated aluminum facer provides a drainage plane and water-resistive barrier, thereby eliminating the use of a membrane or building wrap, product literature indicates.
The complete THERMAX Wall System, composed of continuous insulation (THERMAX XARMOR), all-weather flashing (Liquidarmor Flashing and Sealant), and an insulating air barrier (Styrofoam Brand SPF), is recommended for commercial building projects, the company says.
Dow Building Solutions is a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company.
