Sanders Made for Surface Prep, Polishing

Festool USA has launched Rotex, a new line of multi-mode sanders designed for professional painters.

The models included in the suite are the Rotex RO 150 FEQ, Rotex RO 125 FEQ and Rotex RO 90 DX.

Each sander has dual modes: a gear-driven aggressive rotary mode for rapid stock removal or polishing and a random orbital mode designed for finish or detail sanding, according to the equipment manufacturing company.

The products are built for use on interior and exterior painting projects, the company says.

Three New Sanders

The company’s descriptions of the sanders appear below.

  • Rotex RO 150 FEQ – 720 Watts of power, a 6-inch FastFix tool-free pad changing system and a 5-pound frame with minimal vibration and superior ergonomics. The Rotex RO 150 includes a multi-jetstream dust extraction design that delivers highly efficient dust removal, resulting in cleaner air, better finishes, and longer abrasive and pad life, according to the company. The gear box is completely enclosed and impervious to dust, making the RO 150 extremely reliable, even in the most demanding environments, the manufacturer states.
  • Rotex RO 125 FEQ – 500 watts of power, a 5-inch FastFix, tool-free pad changing system, the Rotex RO 125 weighs 4.4-pounds with minimal vibration and superior ergonomics, the company boasts. The RO 125 also includes jetstream dust extraction design and is compact, yet powerful.
  • Rotex RO 90 DX – The newest addition to the Rotex family, the RO 90 multi-mode sander allows users to switch from a circular pad to a delta-shaped pad in seconds with no tools required, the company says. The new RO 90 adds yet another mode that transforms the sander into a delta-shape, allowing it to reach deep into corners and crevices. Billed as one of the most versatile sanders on the market today, the RO 90 has 400 watts of power and weighs 3.3 pounds.

The sanders also provide virtually dust-free performance when used in conjunction with its Festool CT Dust Extractor, Festool notes.
